We are pleased to share that our institution took part in the 26th ENFSI Fire and Explosion Investigation Working Group Annual Meeting, held in Brussels from 8th to 11th September 2025. 

Our Institute Director, Andreas Melinato, attended the ENFSI FEIWG meeting in Brussels, emphasizing the importance of being part of it and highlighting the relevance of this type of activities. The meeting aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among forensic experts in the field of fire and explosion investigation, with a focus on case studies, thematic discussions, and specialized presentations from European professionals and institutions. 

ENFSI Fire and Explosion Investigation Working Group 

The ENFSI Fire and Explosion Investigation Working Group is one of seventeen expert groups within ENFSI. It focuses on advancing forensic practices related to fire and explosion incidents through the exchange of expertise, collaborative research, and the development of investigative methods. The group plays a key role in enhancing the quality and consistency of forensic fire investigations, particularly in the analysis of flammable substances and chemical traces found at fire scenes. 

Its core objectives include promoting shared learning through joint testing and training, encouraging the exchange of forensic data, and contributing to the establishment of professional standards across Europe in this specialized field.

Activities

The event brought together experts from across Europe to exchange knowledge, discuss methodologies, and strengthen cooperation in the field of fire and explosion investigation. Andreas Melinato’s presence highlighted the importance of being part of such international initiatives and reaffirmed our commitment to scientific collaboration, professional development, and innovation in forensic science.
